From the moment it debuted in 1965, audiences fell in love with The Sound of Music and its tale of a nun outwitting the Nazis on the eve of World War II. They loved Julie Andrews as the flighty but passionate Maria, and they adored the seven singing Von Trapp children, as well as Christopher Plummer, the children's stern father. The soundtrack, with instant classics “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” became one of the most successful soundtrack albums ever, selling more than 20 million copies. Sixty years later, this beautiful, one-of-kind special edition of LIFE celebrates the unforgettable film. Readers will find the real-life story that inspired The Sound of Music, a special section on Andrews (who turns 90 this year), and rarely seen images from the set in Austria, where the movie was filmed. This extraordinary keepsake will become one of your favorite things. Please note that this product is an authorized edition published by the Dotdash Meredith Corporation and sold by Amazon. This edition is printed using a high quality matte interior paper and printed on demand for immediate fulfillment. Read more
